One of the biggest issues facing the climate change world is people do not know what they can do on a personal level. Lots of people are concerned about climate change but talk is cheap. Besides the issues seem too big, the messages too mixed. It might not be real anyway, right?
What I am suggesting therefore is something to try and bring all of these aspects together and get as many people involved as possible.
The first thing would be to create a brand that could bring all of the people and ideas under a single banner. That way you would be controlling the message. That message would be that saving the earth does not have to cost the earth.
That same brand and message can be created in as many different states and countries as possible. The aim of these groups would all be the same though. To create low carbon or even carbon negative businesses. It might be that the group buys a wind turbine and the investors then get discounts on their bills, but the bulk of the money generated goes into new projects. If this is done well then the groups can combine to create bigger projects with bigger consequences. The more people that are involved the more expertise that would be available to the groups. This would have to done using a mixture of paid help and volunteer work but it would give almost everyone a way in which they can help.
In this way more ideas can be generated and more importantly funded and turned into realities. If it gets big enough then it can start to shape the politics as well. That is just having enough voices all saying the same thing after all isn't it?
