Education 1 - Who is running this show?

The biggest single issue facing education in the UK is that the system is changed every few years.  This is not based on any research or professional opinion but instead it is at the whim of the political establishment.  The basic principles or the ethos of the curriculum should be established by the wish of the people (and therefore their elected representatives) however, the mechanisms of how these are taught should be the subject of research and left in the hands of an established professional body.

This page therefore proposes that a professional body be set up to take the running of education out of the scope of the houses of parliament (in much the same way as the interest rates are now in the hands of the Bank of England).

Do you agree?
